What’s the story
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, the renowned hip-hop mogul, is currently facing significant business fallout.
This comes in the wake of multiple sexual assault allegations against him, including a now-settled lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend and former signee of his label, Bad Boy Records, Casandra ‘Cassie’ Ventura.
Despite apologizing to Cassie on video, Combs had previously denied all allegations.
Here’s a list of what Diddy has either departed from or been removed from since the accusations emerged.
Brands and businesses severed ties with Combs
Several brands and businesses have started distancing themselves or severing ties with the 54-year-old American rapper.
Capital Preparatory Harlem, a public charter school co-founded by Combs, ended its partnership with him in November 2023.
Dr. Steve Perry, co-founder and head of schools, stated that the decision was made following a “comprehensive evaluation and was in the best interest of the organization’s health and future.”
Combs’s e-commerce venture lost support amid allegations
Combs’s recently launched e-commerce website, Empower Global, a marketplace for Black-owned businesses, has also been affected.
As of December 10, 2023, at least 18 companies have distanced themselves from the platform.
Some cited the allegations against Combs and the platform’s poor performance as reasons for their departure.
Annette Njau, founder of the luxury company House of Takura, stated they left Empower “the day that Casandra Ventura filed her lawsuit,” emphasizing their support for victims’ rights.
Combs’s entertainment ventures suffered setbacks
In the entertainment sector, Hulu scrapped a reality series—Diddy+7 (working title)—centered on Combs and his seven children in December 2023 following the lawsuits surfaced against him.
Salxco, which previously managed Combs as an artist, no longer lists him as a client on its website.
Additionally, Combs sold all his shares in Revolt TV to an anonymous new owner on March 26 after his Los Angeles and Miami homes were raided by federal agents.
Peloton paused use of Combs’s music amid allegations
In addition to these business losses, exercise company Peloton has stopped the use of Combs’s music.
The company removed the Bad Boy Entertainment Artist Series from their platform, meaning instructors are no longer using his music in any newly produced classes.
The exercise company confirmed this on Monday stating, “We take this issue very seriously and can confirm Peloton has paused the use of Sean Combs’ music…on our platform.”
