As of July 2024, Birdman’s net worth is estimated at $150 Million, which makes him one of the richest rappers in the world.

Bryan ‘Birdman’ Williams is an American rapper, producer, and entrepreneur.

Birdman is the co-founder of Cash Money Records, and also a founding member of Young Money Cash Money Billionaires, which is a combination of Cash Money and Young Money Entertainment, Lil Wayne’s company.

Early Life

Bryan Williams was born in New Orleans on the 13th of February 1969.

His mother died when he was just two years old, and his father also died in a car accident, when Williams was 27.

Birdman grew up in the notorious crime-ridden Magnolia Projects in New Orleans and began committing robberies and selling heroin.

At 18 years old, Birdman was arrested for drug possession, and sentenced to 3 years in Elayn Hunt Correctional Center.

22 months into his sentence, Williams was acquitted of all charges.

Career

Birdman teamed up with Slim after getting out of jail and took note of the bounce hip-hip craze that was sweeping nightclubs in New Orleans.

The pair created “Cash Money Records” in 1992 and traveled around the state of Louisiana recruiting artists for the label.

After recruiting a local rapper, Kilo G, they released their first album, “The Sleepwalker” and convinced DJ Mannie Fresh to be their in-house producer.

During the 1990s, the label grew into a popular local group of talent but financial troubles saw the artists leave, citing lack of money.

Little did Birdman realize that he would soon become one of the richest rappers in the world, despite the financial problems he was currently experiencing.

Rap Artists Killed In Gang Warfare

Unfortunately, some of their popular artists, Kilo G, Pimp Daddy, and Yella Boy succumbed to local gang warfare, being murdered in the mid-1990s.

Their remaining artists consisted of Baby D and Lil Doogie, who rebranded themselves as Lil Wayne and B.G. in 1997.

Birdman managed to recruit two talented new artists, Turk and Juvenile, and then formed a group that they named, the Hot Boys.

The Hot Boys became an overnight sensation in 1998 which resulted in Cash Money signing a $30 million deal with Universal Records.

Birdman, now known as Baby, formed a group with Mannie Fresh and released a successful album, “How Ya Luv That?”, in 1998.

Going Platinum

They followed up with a further release in 2000 titled “I Got That Work” and another in 2002 titled “Hood Rich”.

“I Got That Work” was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), selling more than 1 million copies in the United States.

They earned a Grammy Award for the single, “Still Fly,” with the song reaching 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

It was followed up with another superb album, “Big Money Heavyweight” in 2003, which was also certified gold in the USA.

When Mannie Fresh left Cash Money Records, the group stopped producing new material, although they did occasionally get together for live performances.

Striking Out On His Own

With Cash Money losing its biggest artists, Birdman focused on his own career as a rapper and released his label debut, “Birdman” in November 2006.

It was an immediate success, selling 500,000 copies by January 2007, being certified gold by the RIAA, and hitting number 24 on the Billboard 200.

Part of its success was the collaboration with Lil’ Wayne, Toni Braxton, and T.I. among a host of other top talent in the rap world.

With Keith Murray and Puff Daddy on the album, “Birdman” became a sensational hit amongst fans and Birdaman rode the wave of fame.

Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter” album was another huge success globally, which helped to get Birdman’s name out as he featured on numerous songs.

Birdman and Lil Wayne hit number 3 on the Billboard 200 with their next collaboration in 2006, “Like Father, Like Son”.

Winning A BET Viewer’s Award

He won the BET Viewer’s Choice Award and was ranked as the 94th best song of 2006 by Rolling Stone Magazine.

2007 was a stellar year, with Birdman’s third solo studio album selling 80,000 copies initially and reaching number 18 on the Billboard 200.

Collaborating on numerous albums with Lil Wayne and Drake over the next few years, produced more instant hits, propelling Birdman into the spotlight.

In 2010, Birdman released “Bigga Than Life” with Lil Wayne and Tyga, followed by collaborations with Rick Ross and Young Jeezy.

Birdman collaborated with Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne In 2011 on “Y.U. MAD”, and then released a mixtape titled “Billionaire Minds”.

Expanding Into Oil And Gas Investments

By 2013, Birdman was listed by Forbes magazine as the 5th highest-earning hip-hop star in the world, earning more than $20 million a year.

Outside of his music industry investments, Birdman is also involved in the oil industry as well as the high-end fashion retail industry.

He formed Bronald Oil and Gas LLC and together with business partners developed existing land holdings as well as obtained new gas leases to exploit.

However, an investigation launched by an investigative reporter could find no evidence of the company having an official presence in Federal records.

Following an outburst in a radio interview, he set up a merchandise line called “Respek,” which used catchphrases from the infamous interview.
