It seems Diddy is keeping tabs on everything even from behind bars. His legal team has denied he set up Shyne as the fall guy during the club shooting trial.

As spotted on TMZ the Bad Boy Entertainment founder is fighting back against his former protege. Recently the rapper turned political has been promoting his upcoming documentary The Honorable Shyne via several interviews. While the film details his entire life story the unfortunate happenings of Dec. 27, 1999 has been continue to be a hot topic. That evening he, Diddy, Jennifer Lopez and others connected to the mogul went to Club New York in Manhattan. Soon after an argument ensued which was followed by several gunshots. After an almost seven-week trial a jury found the “That’s Gangsta” rapper guilty of assault and reckless endangerment. He would serve nine years in prison.

During his promotional run Shyne has repeated explained he was merely defending himself that evening and that Diddy’s strategy during the trial was to make the man born Jamal Barrow the fall guy. This week Diddy’s legal team has responded via an exclusive statement to TMZ and refute Shyne’s version of events. “Mr. Combs categorically denies Mr. Barrow’s allegations, including any suggestion that he orchestrated Mr. Barrow to ‘take the fall’ or ‘sacrificed’ him by directing witnesses to testify against him. These claims are unequivocally false” the unnamed representative says. “Mr. Combs appreciates the path Mr. Barrow has pursued and wishes him continued success. It is unfortunate that Mr. Barrow has chosen to revisit these allegations. Mr. Combs trusts that responsible journalism will weigh both the established legal outcomes and Mr. Combs’ positive, longstanding support for those he has worked with.”

Shyne originally stated his version of the shooting in his June 2001 XXL Magazine cover story. The Honorable Shyne documentary premieres HULU on Nov. 18. You can see him discuss the matter in depth on the Tamron Hall Show below.
