Flavor Flav was among those who made it out to Brooklyn this week to celebrate Spike Lee‘s iconic 1989 film Do The Right Thing.
Sunday (June 30) marked three and a half decades since the release of the comedy-drama that built a narrative around race relations in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of New York City. The movie was shot on what is now known as on Do The Right Thing Way (located between Lexington Avenue and Quincy Street), which is also where its 35-year-anniversary bloc party was held.
In addition to appearances by actor Giancarlo Esposito and editor Barry Alexander Brown, the Public Enemy MC took the stage with the Oscar-winning director himself for a performance of “Fight The Power” after stoking the crowd into a “Do or die Bed-Stuy” chant.

In other news, Flavor Flav has become the face of a new meal at Red Lobster following his repeated efforts to keep the establishment afloat amid financial struggles.
The restaurant chain filed for bankruptcy back in May, prompting him to do everything in his power to prevent its dissolution. Since then, he has ordered their entire menu multiple times and even voiced an advertisement to promote the food.
Earlier this week, the company announced a new off-menu meal called Flavor Flav’s Faves that consists of “Maine Lobster Tail, Snow Crab Legs, Garlic Shrimp Scampi, and Bacon Mac & Cheese, plus choice of one side.”
“As a long-time Red Lobster fan, I’m fired up to bring a little bit of my own flavor to fans with a meal featuring my seafood favorites,” the New York City native said. “You gotta get to Red Lobster and give it a try because this signature meal is hype, boy!”
Of late, the 65-year-old rap veteran has been using his resources and influence to lift up those around him.
During the Hollywood labor strikes last year, he supported the Writers Guild of America by delivering pizzas to hungry picketers.
The “911 Is A Joke” hitmaker joined the protests last May, showing up at Warner Bros. studios in Southern California to support fellow stars Quinta Brunson and Jason Sudeikis.
More recently, Flav showed his support to Jelly Roll after the musician claimed he was “bullied” off of social media.
On an episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast, the Tennessee native’s wife Bunnie XO revealed: “My husband got off the internet because he is so tired of being bullied about his fucking weight, and that makes me want to cry, because he is the sweetest angel baby. My husband doesn’t show it to you guys, but I’m going to have a very vulnerable moment here. It hurts him.
“The internet can say whatever the fuck they want about you and they say, ‘You’re a celebrity. You’re supposed to be able to handle it.’ No the fuck we’re not. Enough is enough.”
Soon after the news began making the rounds online, the rapper took to X (formerly Twitter) with a minute-long video to emphasize how much he loved his peer while expressing his frustration at those who drove him offline.
“Y’all gone and bullied one of THE NICEST people off social media, so I felts the need to standup for my man JellyRoll,” he wrote in his caption. “That man does so much for people and communities through his music and activism … Luv me some @JellyRoll615 and Bunnie.”
