American rapper Ghostface Killah, known for his role in the legendary hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan, is set to release exclusive music as Bitcoin Ordinals, offering holders Creative Commons Zero (CC0) rights to the music.
Ghostface Killah, also known as Dennis David Coles, announced the launch of his Bitcoin Ordinals on social media, revealing that there will be a limited supply of 10,000 Ordinals available via a free mint. Holders of the Ordinals will enjoy CC0 rights, allowing them to freely build upon and reuse the music as they wish.
The Bitcoin Ordinal collection is the result of a collaboration with the Ordinals Bot, Rare Scrilla, and NakaPepes, providing a unique twist to the world of NFTs. Ordinals are similar to NFTs but are inscribed using the Bitcoin blockchain, with Bitcoin as the minting token required.
Ghostface Killah’s venture into the crypto industry dates back to 2017 when he attempted to launch his own cryptocurrency company, Cream Capital, through an initial coin offering (ICO).
While releasing exclusive music or the rights to previously released music as NFTs has become popular among musicians, using Bitcoin Ordinals for this purpose is less common but offers a novel approach to engaging with fans and the crypto community.
Bitcoin Ordinals gained traction in early 2023, and despite some fluctuations, they continue to be of interest to both artists and collectors. Recently, the NFT marketplace SuperRare announced its expansion into Bitcoin Ordinals, signaling growing interest in this unique form of digital collectibles.
