Jordan Brand has announced the launch of the latest edition in its iconic Air Jordan flagship line, the Air Jordan XXXIX. This new model showcases a cutting-edge midsole that combines full-length ZoomX foam and full-length Air Zoom, offering a premium cushioning experience. The upper is designed to secure the foot during explosive changes in direction, catering to the needs of modern basketball players.
The Air Jordan XXXIX debuted on the court during the first round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs, worn by Orlando Magic forward and Jordan Brand athlete Paolo Banchero. The shoe’s design is inspired by the motion and emotion of Michael Jordan’s game, focusing on mastering basketball’s most influential movements.
Joël Greenspan, Senior Design Director for Jordan Brand Performance Footwear, noted that the Air Jordan XXXIX might appear quieter than other models in the line. It features simplified tooling, a clean toe-down look, and minimal branding. This streamlined design is intentional and aimed at providing a sleek yet functional aesthetic.
“This is Michael Jordan’s signature shoe,” says Greenspan. “From the cushioning to the materials to the construction, everything about this shoe is pinnacle.”
Set to release on July 23, the Air Jordan XXXIX will be available on jordan.com and at select retailers. This launch continues Jordan Brand’s legacy of innovation and excellence in basketball footwear, promising to deliver performance and style for athletes and fans alike.
