Rapper Kanye West is raging mountains with the late singer Donna Summer’s estate over the alleged use of her song “I Feel Love” on his new album with Ty Dolla $ign, Vultures 1.
As per reports in the news hip-hop artist Kanye West wanted to apply Summer’s music on his album; however the wish was declined by the estate. Nonetheless, according to unconfirmed reports, he used a slightly modified version of the song on the track “Good (Don’t Die)“, which the estate says is a noticeable case of copyright infringement.
The ESTATE is seeking for damages and an INJUNCTION to prevent WEST from still distributing the song. Donna Summer’s lawyer, David Boies, said in a statement that the late singer’s (“West’s”) actions were “a flagrant and deliberate infringement of Donna Summer and her heirs’ rights.”
This is not the first time that West got blamed for using the samples that are not authorized on his album. He however was also criticized by Ozzy and his wife Sharon Osbourne who said that he sampled a bit of a live performance of “Iron Man” in 1983 without their consent West eventually took off the sample from “Carnival” in the song prior to the launch of the album.
Furthermore, Nicki Minaj denied to clear her song with Kanye West called “New Body” for Vulture album for few reasons. Initially, the track had been in existence for a couple of years. It dates back to 2018 and was initially included in Kanye’s scrapped album entitled Yandhi. It was again re-recorded for Kanye West’s 2019 gospel album, Jesus Is King, but that version never came out too.
Minaj said she had an entirely new album which prompted her not to put one old song into the public after three years. She saidin on an Instagram live stream that the train left the station and that her intentions with kanye West are pure and that he means well, but that she had to refuse to clear the record which seems to be the main cause of the postponement of the release of the Vulture album.
West hasn’t spoken publicly on the accusations by Summer’s estate and the Osbournes. His album Vultures 1, being the first project of his since his controversial comments, and actions in 2021, was released on February 10, 2024.
