In the ‘For Real’ music video, rapper Truth Francisco embraces the status and appeal of being a music artist at the top of his game.
Houston hip-hop star Truth Francisco has shared the music video for his latest single, ‘For Real,’ as he continues to flex his newfound fame.
Truth is best known for being one of Texas’s most promising rap artists in recent years. He has won fans over thanks to his outspoken, articulate rap lyrics – which reflect all his life’s highs, lows, achievements, and failures.
He gained attention for releasing a series of songs that dealt with complex topics in a thought-provoking manner. His song ‘Holding On’ deals with the aftermath of tragedy; the song was inspired by the fact that his childhood home burnt down in a freak accident. Elsewhere, his song ‘She Running’ explored the cycle of domestic abuse, turning the lens on the men who perpetrate violence against women.
All his music stems from personal pain – and how he has fought to overcome this pain. Truth’s journey was significantly influenced by three major events in his youth: the loss of his father, the loss of his baby cousin, and the murder of his older cousin. Following these three defining moments, Truth pursued a music style that valued honesty, integrity, and truth – above everything else.
The artist released his latest album, Truth Tells No Lies, in 2023. The 10-track LP was the culmination of years of hard grafting. With excellent production and some of the most fiery verses that any rap artist has delivered this year, the album was a crowning achievement.
‘For Real’ is one of the standout songs on Truth’s new album, with a brilliant chorus delivered by Cory Jones,
whose R&B voice is a match for The Weeknd’s. The song is lighter and more upbeat than many other TTNL tracks. It focuses on Truth’s triumphs rather than his setbacks; the overall message is about how he plans on staying ‘real’ no matter what happens to his career.
The music video, featuring executive direction by Truth and co-direction by longtime collaborator Tray Williams, presents a captivating and expertly crafted visual experience that allows viewers to understand how he’s enjoying the high life. In classic rap artist fashion, we see Truth sipping champagne, raining dollar bills down on a hotel bed, traveling in expensive cars, and getting up close with beautiful women. The video is expertly directed, with Tray Williams capturing the seductive beauty of fame (not to mention the beauty of model Robyn Shannon, who serves as Truth’s romantic partner throughout).
Truth constantly addresses the camera in the visuals, delivering his assertive lyrics and empowered tone to the viewer. He makes clear that he isn’t letting success go to his head. He lives by his kind of moral code, which helps him stay clearsighted: “Never been greedy, but money’s my motto,” he says – and the listener hears the ‘truth’ and ‘realness’ in his words.
