Nicki Minaj‘s half-sister Ming Li has nothing but love for her older sibling, despite the occasional bumps in the road.
Ming – an artist in her own right – appeared on the most recent episode of the We In Miami podcast, where she discussed a myriad of topics, including her relationship with her sister. While she admits she can make Minaj mad quite often, Li also noted that she has a tendency to do that with most people in her life so it’s not exclusive to their situation.
“We was never close, but we had a good bond,” she said. “She was always busy. I be doing my shit, too. But at the end of the day, I know that I still got love for her, she still got love for me, and I’ma still be proud of her.”
“We’re gonna argue. I’m not gonna lie. My sister do be getting mad at me but this is nothing new. Siblings gon’ fight. Ming is just Ming, bro. Respectfully. I’m not gon’ lie — I be getting everyone tight, bro.”
The 18-year-old also made it clear that she wasn’t going to use her sister to get to where she wants to go, but just wants the superstar to be proud of her.
“I never needed her to help me get to my goal. I just needed her to see that I can do it and she can be proud of me without having to think that I needed to have an easy way get to the top.
Earlier this year, Ming said she was holding out for an interview on The Breakfast Club to speak her truth – though it would appear she’s since had a change of heart.
“Everyone wants me to speak,” she wrote. “I’m saving my interview for @breakfastclubam.”
She continued: “And also one more thing. I won’t be disrespected by anybody cause respect is always earned, and yes I do love my family let that be known too..all of them.”
Ming’s first music video, which officially dropped in March, features the rising rap superstar flexing her muscles alongside Rakeem Love for a song called “Do It Again.”
Helped along by City Island Productions — which has also worked on music videos by Ice Spice and ex-City Girl JT — the music video was also brought to their fans, in part, by Quantum Swap AI, a crypto exchange in which Li and Love are part co-owners.
