Oprah served as the producer of the new version of The Color Purple. As a result, when Taraji P. Henson cried during her interview, people somehow blamed Oprah. For the past few weeks, there have been rumors of Oprah and Taraji feuding. This intensified when Danielle Brooks mentioned how Taraji made sure the ladies had food and dressing rooms. Recently, Oprah, along with The Color Purple ladies, spoke with Gayle King on “CBS This Morning,” where Oprah set the record straight on her and Taraji.
Oprah has spent her career being a motivational figure. Over the years, she has created opportunities for many people. Most of the people Oprah has opened doors for are Black women. When she decided to turn The Color Purple stage plays into a film, she had a hand in casting the ladies. Both Oprah and Taraji have said she made sure Henson was involved. However, the fans, social media, and traditional media all feed off controversy.
Oprah and Taraji P. Henson have been accused of fighting each other, regardless. The whole theme of the movie is about Black women coming together. In spite of this, the rumors are about two Black women fighting each other. As a result, Oprah spoke out on “CBS This Morning,” explaining the issues that Taraji had. In addition, she said she fought for her, even offered to go out of pocket to fix things, but that Warner handled it. Then, she asked how her name even got into things.
