Out of This World Experience

Multiplatinum-selling Hip Hop and R&B legend Miss Elliott, blasted off her show stomping Out of This World tour at the Crypto.com Arena on Friday, in Los Angeles. The crowd erupted into a frenzy as she descended from an intergalactic spaceship, officially launching a night of electrifying hits. The set opened with “Throw it Back” and featured a catalog that boasts classics like “The Rain,” “Get Ur Freak On,” and “Supa Dupa Fly.” 

Despite this being her first headlining tour, her status as a dynamic trendsetter since the 90s transcendences time as a relevant artist in 2024. The concert kicked off with past collaborators Timbaland opening the show followed by Ciara belting out fan favorites from “Goodies,” to “1,2 Step.” Busta Rhymes kept the momentum going with a 15-song setlist that included “Turn It Up / Fire It Up” to “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See.”

Missy paused to express her gratitude during the show. “I never take for granted the fact you spent your hard-earned money to come here and support myself, Busta Rhymes, Ciara, and Timberland,” she said. “All of us have been in the industry for over two decades, and this means a lot for people to see that talent still exists no matter what the age.” 

The camaraderie between the artists was palpable. Ciara and Busta Rhymes took a beat to bask in the thunderous applause during their sets, an endearing moment for fans who remember them rising through the scene together.  20 years later they continue to prove they can still pack out arenas as a collective force. Later, the trio returned to the stage with Missy for the finale with Timbaland performing “Up Jumps Da’ Boogie,” Busta Rhymes with “Touch It” and Ciara closed with “Lose Control.”

Known for her unique avant-garde aesthetic, she served multiple custom costume changes from a bejeweled spacesuit, Hip Hop ensembles, and neon rave gear. The outfits are designed and styled by longtime collaborator, June Ambrose who created 246 looks for Missy and her 25 dancers.

Missy is still an artist very dedicated to the craft. So much thought and creativity have been poured into the costumes, choreography, and production design to create a memorable experience as her live show is essentially an extension of her music videos. The visuals were a feast for the eyes as she invited the audience as participants in the performance providing wristbands that simulated a choreographed light display enhancing and evolving the live music experience which is groundbreaking again in typical missy fashion.

The Out of This World tour is produced by Live Nation in association with Mona Soctt-Young (Elliott’s manager and CEO of Monami Entertainment).

The 24-city run began on July 4 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, making stops across North America in Vegas, Atlanta, Brooklyn, and more, before wrapping up in Rosemont at Allstate Arena on August 22.
