Dubbed as the Reggae Redman, Mista Chief is a multi award winning Indigenous Reggae & Hip-Hop Artist/Producer and founding member of Burial Ground Society. Born of Northern Cheyenne ancestry, Chief applies his Native American culture into his unique blend of Dancehall Reggae and positive Hip- Hop.
Mista Chief walks proud through his journeys in life spreading music that people can vibe to and connect with; he likes to think of himself as a bridge between cultures, a voice of the people and a link between many worlds. His debut Ip NATION2NATION features a song & music video with Abstract Rude of LA’s legendary Good Life Cafe Hip-Hop scene. Afterwards, Mista Chief was featured on 2 songs (including a solo cut), on Abstract Rude’s Keep The Feel Ent. label sampler.
On August 30th 2014 in Hollywood, CA at the EBELL THEATER, Mista Chief took home 2 awards at the 5TH ANNUAL INDIGENOUS LEGENDS AND WEST COAST AMERICAN INDIAN MUSIC AWARDS, The first was for BEST MALE REGGAE VOCALIST for the title song off his album NATION2NATION and the second was BEST REGGAE BAND/ARTIST for the song “GUESS WHO.”
Chief has extensively toured the Pacific NW region, headlined the Indigenous Roots Tour featuring regional Native American music groups,and has played several shows in California including the INDIGENOUS LEGENDS CONCERT, held at the famous VIPER ROOM on SUNSET BLVD in HOLLYWOOD, CA, and in 2023 at the GATHERING OF NATIONS in Albuquerque,NM. Numerous festival appearances have kept Chief in demand, including the Seattle Hemp Fest, Oregon Reggae Fest, Earthdance, Northwest Roots Festival and Northwest World Reggae Fest.
