Rick Ross disses Birdman for siding with Drake in beef
Rick Ross actually dropped a Birdman diss record in 2017, “Idols Become Rivals.” The diss came as a shock, seeing how close Rick Ross and Birdman were. Birdman co-signed Ross early in his career and the two had a joint project, The H, which took five years to release. By the time their album actually did drop, Ross was the biggest rapper in the game. Birdman, meanwhile, signed DJ Khaled, and the deal apparently didn’t go well. Ross dissed him, but said they were family, now he’s at him again over Drake.
Rick Ross was once so close with Birdman, many thought he’d move Maybach Music to a joint venture label deal with Cash Money. During that period of time, DJ Khaled brought We The Best over. Also, this is when Lil Wayne and Young Money were doing well. Birdman was so confident the deal was happening that he confirmed it on MTV. That deal would’ve made Ross, Khaled, Wayne, Drake, Meek Mill, Nicki Minaj, Wale, Ace Hood, Vado, and Stalley all label-mates. Ross moved with Warner, instead.
Rick Ross hinted at Birdman’s business being the reason MMG/Cash Money never happened. Years later, he called Birdman out, accusing him of doing bad business with DJ Khaled. However, he maintained that Birdman was still family. Now, in an odd turn of events, Ross and Drake now have beef, and Ross isn’t saying it’s a family thing. He jokingly mentioned Birdman, who has since taken Drake’s side. Now, Ross is calling Birdman out, again, going to his former mansion, “Stunna Island,” in Miami.
