Rod Wave is being held in jail after la enforcement allegedly caught him with a firearm, which convicted felons aren’t allowed to be in possession of.
According to arrest records obtained by HipHopDX, the rapper was taken into police custody on Wednesday (April 3) following a pursuit by the Manatee County police department in Florida.
He was subsequently charged with two counts of possession, with his bond being set to $0.

Following the arrest, the singer’s attorneys Bradford Cohen and Mark Rankin released a statement to TMZ wherein they pinned the blame on the arresting officers, claiming that their client had been released on his own recognizance despite still being shown as incarcerated as of this writing.
“The officers that made the arrest are incorrect,” the note reads. “He is not a convicted felon and has never been a convicted felon. We would have hoped additional research would have been done prior to them filing these charges. As with any case we will hold those parties that made the error accountable for their actions.”
This isn’t the first time that Rod Wave has found himself on the wrong side of the law.
Back in 2022, he was arrested and charged with battery by strangulation. While details of the ordeal were scarce, a report by Tampa Bay Times revealed that he allegedly choked his ex-girlfriend while their two children were home.
The woman, whose identity has been redacted, accused him of entering her home in Osceola County because he suspected her of talking to other men and choking her “until she couldn’t breathe.”
He then allegedly returned to the property for a second time and accused her of taking his phone. The complaint also showed that he subsequently kicked storage shelves and tore down two photos from the wall, throwing them on the front porch and sidewalk before driving off.
The former couple’s two young daughters were asleep in their bedroom while the alleged incident occurred. The woman, who dated the Florida native for about four years, claimed she was left with a scratch “near the left center of her neck,” though she also declined medical treatment for it.
The “Heart On Ice” hitmaker was released from the Pinellas County Jail on $5,000 bail the day after his arrest and not guilty to the charges. The charges were subsequently dismissed.
