WAUKESHA, Wis. (WTMJ) – Nine luxury vehicles amounting to a half million dollars were stolen from a Wisconsin dealership last week.
The theft of the Waukesha Land Rover dealership was caught on camera and led to a police chase.
Just after 6 a.m. Sunday morning, nine masked individuals entered the dealership’s showroom. The suspects showed up in a stolen silver Chrysler minivan.
After they gained entry through a service garage door, the criminal complaint said one of the offenders was able to pry open a lock box to access multiple sets of keys.
Video capturing the event showed how the suspects were able to smash into the garage door, causing extensive damage.
Investigators said two vehicles got out of the dealership through the shattered door.
Security cameras then captured the convoy of nine stolen cars leaving the dealership lot.
Police said the suspects led them on a 30 minute, 115 mile per hour chase on Interstate 94 toward the Illinois border.
Dashcam video shows the chase coming to an end in Pleasant Prairie.
West Allis Police took 17-year-old Calvin Valentine of Chicago into custody. He faces multiple charges, including burglary, receiving stolen property over $10,000, and criminal damage to property.
According to the complaint, Valentine told investigators he was “just doing kids stuff.”
Police said they are confident they will find the eight other individuals who were with Valentine.
At least six of the nine vehicles have been recovered so far.
