I’m releasing these records as part of my efforts to get answers and hold agencies accountable.” Grassley is not the only politician demanding answers. Trump himself issued a similar demand for accountability on his Truth Social page.

Following the assassination attempt, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle announced her resignation. After receiving heat for the security breakdown that took place on July 13, the media and citizens alike speculated that she would not remain in that position for much longer. Lawmakers from both parties called for her resignation, and she did not wait long to do so. President Biden announced that he would fill her vacancy soon. The Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Col. Christopher Paris said that his authorities warned the Secret Service about Thomas Matthew Crooks on the rooftop.
