The rapper received a nod in the best rap album category for his album ‘Utopia’
Travis Scott lit up the stage at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
The rapper, 32, took the stage during the awards ceremony at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The hip-hop superstar performed a medley of songs off his Grammy-nominated album Utopia, playing “MY EYES,” “I KNOW?” and “FE!N.”
While the set started off a bit more subdued with Scott sitting atop an oversized speaker and crooning the bars to “MY EYES,” it eventually erupted into fire and high energy.
After performing several verses of the confessional track, the Houston artist, who was styled in an all-black ensemble inspired by football armor, broke into “I KNOW ?.” During the second track, he was joined by a dancer who he performed choreography with in front of a wall of speakers to convey the relationship challenges at the heart of the lyrics. He then quite literally offered a fire set — seeing the stage erupt into flames as he burst into the banger “FE!N,” spitting the quick bars with tenacity while smashing folding chairs in the set and getting an assist from featured artist Playboi Carti.
Prior to the performance, the hitmaker described the concept for Utopia and explained his reasoning by playing the three songs from the album that he did in a pre-recorded video. He said, “The three songs are kind of the transport portal where we’re going to get to Utopia.”
Scott received a nod in the best rap album category for his fourth studio album, Utopia.
The “Sicko Mode” performer opened up about the nomination during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, saying, “This time, we just gotta bring it home!”
“It means a lot to me,” he added of the nomination. “I love music and I love the Academy. I think some of the most amazing artists and talented artists have achieved that. And as a producer and as a writer and as a musician, I take music very seriously. So I love it. It’s amazing.”
