Waka Flocka Flame has told Mos Def he looks like a “hater” for wearing a dress after his well publicized statements about Drake‘s merits as a Hip Hop artist.

Yesterday (February 3), Mos Def aka Yasiin Bey posted a picture on Instagram of him wearing a designer skirt or kilt with Waka Flocka Flame now inserting himself into his alleged beef with Drake.

“That Mos Def shit, boy you tripping,” he said. “You really tripping, my boy. You go from goddamn telling Drake he not Hip Hop to putting on a goddamn Rowdy Roddy Piper dress like the wrestler. So that’s what Hip Hop is?

“Bruh, never in my life I do lame shit like that. But I got to say something, bruh. Now you make that look like Hip Hop and you look like a hater.”

Mos had originally criticized Drake as “pop”.

“Drake is pop to me,” he said.“In the sense like, if I was in Target in Houston and I heard a Drake song, it feels like a lot of his music is compatible with shopping. Or shopping with an edge, in certain instances.”

The rapper and actor later clarified his comments on Instagram Live.

“Drake, if you’d like to speak to me directly, you can at any point,” Yasiin said. “I reached out to [Dave] Chappelle, actually reached out to you. I DM’d you. You are a very talented MC, but for me, I require more of myself and others than just talent or charm or charisma — particularly in times of urgent crisis.”

He concluded: “And what I would like to see in terms of creators or creative people in the world, as it relates to our culture, is for people to connect with us beyond the jukebox or the dance floor. A fair-weather friend can hardly be called a friend at all. The people who party with you — that’s cool. But will they show up for you when you’re at the triage?”

In response to the rap legend’s comments, Drake posted a video on Instagram of Method Man explaining what Hip Hop meant to him.

In the clip, the Wu-Tang member said: “Hip Hop is a culture. It’s a way of life, the way you dress, the way you talk, the way you walk. It’s the breakdancing, rhymes, stage show, DJ, mixing and scratching, the wordplay. That’s Hip Hop.”
