“Wu Tang Clan ain’t nothing to f**k with”, that’s for sure — they have indeed done it again. The legendary crew is back to making music and have just released track number 8 of their album Black Samson, The Bastard Swordsman, produced by Mathematics. Yep, the same artist that designed the iconic Wu Tang logo.
The track is called ‘Warriors Two, Cooley High,’ and features a rare collaboration between Method Man and Benny The Butcher. The song opens with a classic Wu Tang trick, a skit, which propels the listener headfirst into the action, courtesy of two truly gritty emcees. In essence, as one might expect, the collaboration represents the true journey of the boom bap sound over time, culminating in a classic hip hop record.
The song came in today merely a week after Wu Tang Clan’s NYC Listening Party, which was kept to celebrate and reveal the album to an exclusive crowd at the IMI Studios. Some that attended, included names like hip hop historian Shaheem Reid, Shade 45 host DJ DStroy and WorldStarHipHop Chief Creative Officer & Content Manager, JR Romantiko.
Now with a taste test established by the latest song, the album can be heard in its entirety on April 25, which is when the album is scheduled to hit streaming worldwide. Although, the physical release of the LP can be accessed as early as April 12th as part of a limited edition Record Store Day drop. Check out the song below!
