(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Chicago teenager was among at least nine young people who were accused of stealing cars from a Lexus and Jaguar dealership on Sunday morning.
It was about 6:30 a.m. when a maintenance worker discovered an overhead door was damaged at the dealership. Nine vehicles were driven off the lot.
There was a high-speed pursuit that reached I-94 — where stop sticks were used to deflate the tires of one of the vehicles.
That’s when the 17-year-old was caught. The others got away.
Waukesha Police Captain Dan Baumann spoke to CBS 58 Milwaukee.
“We hope that we can be able to get these other eight into custody rather quickly and bring them back to Waukesha where they can be held in front of their peers … so they can realize we don’t tolerate this stuff in Waukesha,” he said.
Six of the cars had been recovered as of Monday afternoon. One was abandoned in Deerfield.
Baumann said the suspects are part of an organized crime group composed of teenagers from the Chicago area.
