Gucci Mane is mourning the loss of his former 1017 artist Enchanting, amid news the rapper has died.

The Shade Room, citing the rapper’s team, attributed the rapper’s death to “a reported overdose.”

The rapper’s sister said early on Tuesday (June 11) that Enchanting was in the intensive care unit, before later confirming she’d passed.

Enchanting was signed to Gucci’s imprint in 2020. According to The Daily Mail, she was still signed to 1017 as recently as early 2024, though the most recent project she released on the label was a deluxe version of her 2022 album No Luv titled Love Scarred/ No Luv (Deluxe), which dropped in February, 2023.

Upon hearing the news, Gucci took to his Instagram saying, “So sad to have to say R.I.P to such a great young lady a true star we gone all miss you Chant @luvenchanting”

In the comments of Gucci Mane’s posts, many critics seemed to blame him for her passing, as they mentioned the poor track record of many of his 1017 signees. And though his wife, Keyshia Ka’Oir, previously called him out for that very issue, she came to her man’s defense in the comments.

“Leave my husband alone!” she said. “He signs these artist to help them & give them a better life! I wish it wasn’t like this ! Chant we love you baby girl ! RIH”

A number of 1017 artists, past and present, have seen jail time in recent years including Pooh Shiesty, Foogiano, Hoodrich Paolo Juan and Mac Critter.

During an appearance on his wife’s new podcast All Things Keyshia Ka’Oir last month, the rap legend was questioned about “Why all your 1017 artists keep going to jail.”

Appearing shocked by the question, Gucci replied: “Well, you know, I was one of those type of artists always going back and forth to jail, and I try help those artists I see a lot of myself in.

“With that being said, you have to ride out through their little bumps and I feel if I’m not helping them, who else gonna help them?

“They come from the trenches, they come from poverty so I wanna help. I feel I can relate to them and what they got going on.”
