Something That Truly Lasts
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Pia Lindsay began her fashion journey at the Brooklyn Museum. In Los Angeles, she honed her craft at Otis College of Art and Design under the tutelage of industry icons such as Bob Mackie, Cynthia Rowley and Trina Turk. Pia’s exceptional talent was recognised by the fashion elite, earning her the Emerging Designer of 2012 award and the beginning of a successful fashion career marked by remarkable achievements and accolades.
Amidst the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic in 2020, Pia Lindsay boldly launched her very own label, Pia Lindsay Studio, in the bustling metropolis of New York City. Despite the turbulent times that plagued the fashion world, her brand not only persevered but also thrived, charting its own delightful path in the realm of sustainable fashion.”The pandemic and the surplus of materials made me rethink the values behind my brand,” she says. “It was about creating something that truly lasts”.
Exploring Powerful Contrasts
Pia Lindsay presented her dedication to sustainability with her stunning new collection at Moscow Fashion Week. The collection beautifully fuses classic menswear pinstripe power suits with intricate three-dimensional floral pieces and beading, showcasing the brand’s mastery of fabric, structure and design, and its talent for creating harmonious contrasts.
Moscow’s Vibe
Pia feels inspired by the rich tapestry of Russian fashion and is eager to infuse her upcoming collections with this new-found creativity, “During my time in Moscow, I had the opportunity to attend several shows featuring Russian designers, and I was completely blown away by the level of talent and precision in each collection”.
There is no doubt that Russian designers have unleashed a fresh wave of creativity with their innovative takes on timeless trends. Post Ironic gives late 90s fashion a modern twist, combining overcoats, full-length coats, tracksuits and jackets with sleek patent leather and bold shoulder pads. Moscow’s Imkmode effortlessly fuses gothic hues and silhouettes with whimsical cartoon-inspired designs. Rogov fearlessly pushes boundaries, mixing leopard prints, vibrant fuchsia, classic plaids, luxurious velvets and delicate florals to create a captivating and daring aesthetic.
“I believe the US fashion market is oversaturated with fast-fashion brands that lack a true belief in their products. By showing at Moscow Fashion Week, I hope to expand my overseas clientele and participate in fashion weeks around the world. I’m eager to share more about the brand through various platforms and publications to reach a broader audience,” says Pia.
