Odis Oliver Flores, better known by his stage name O.T. Genasis, is an American rapper born on June 18, 1987, in Long Beach, California, to Garifuna parents from Belize. His early life in Long Beach, a city known for its rich musical heritage, played a significant role in shaping his musical aspirations. Genasis drew inspiration from a diverse array of artists, including Cutty Ranks, Buju Banton, T.I., Ludacris, 2Pac, Shabba Ranks, and 50 Cent. This eclectic mix of influences is evident in his unique style, which blends elements of hip-hop and dancehall. Genasis’s career began to gain traction in 2011 when he signed with G-Unit Records, releasing his debut mixtape under the label the following year. However, his major breakthrough came after he parted ways with G-Unit and joined Busta Rhymes’ Conglomerate Records.
